’Phyllobates bicolor’

“As the second most toxic dart frog in the world, this is one of the few frogs to have caused human fatalities.
The toxin is excreted from the skin, causes paralysis and cardiac failure.
Researchers have found reduced toxin levels in captive frogs as they do not need to protect themselves from predators.
This makes potential reintroductions difficult as captive-bred frogs have no defence against predation.”
