“99% of a Giant Panda's diet consists of bamboo, however the species still has the digestive system of a carnivore so derives little energy from bamboo.
On average, a panda will eat between 9 and 14kg of bamboo shoots each day to compensate for this limited energy, and can be active at any time of day as they have no major predators.”
